Frankfurt, a city where modern skyscrapers meet centuries-old charm, is more than just a financial hub. From its historic Old Town to the glittering Main Tower views, Frankfurt blends culture, history, and urban energy in a way that’s uniquely captivating. Join me as I explore its streets, flavors, and hidden corners.

Places to visit
Frankfurt Airport is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the city centre by train, and a ticket costs around €6.60. The main train station is only a short walk from the heart of the city, making it an easy and quick way to get into town.
- European Central Bank: As soon as you step out of the main train station, you’ll find yourself surrounded by Frankfurt’s impressive skyline. Among these striking buildings is the European Central Bank, located just a short distance from the city centre.
- Frankfurt’s city centre blends modern skyscrapers with historic charm, centered around the picturesque Römerberg square. One of its highlights is St. Nicholas Church, a beautiful Gothic-style church dating back to the 13th century. Once the chapel of Frankfurt’s city council, it now stands as a peaceful landmark overlooking the bustling square.
- Frankfurt has many beautiful parks, but in my opinion, the river walk is the best. On one side, you’ll enjoy views of the Main River with its mix of historic and modern bridges, and on the other, a lovely park filled with trees, flowers, and statues. It’s a perfect route to take on your way back to the main train station.
Food and Drinks
- Frankfurt is a city full of great coffee spots and restaurants. Honestly, most of them are really good — but it’s still smart to check Google Maps for ratings. One of my favorites is “Why! Coffee”, known not just for its excellent coffee, but also for its delicious bakery.
- It’s hard to choose where to eat in Frankfurt — there are so many great places to try. But if you’re looking for the best brunch, I highly recommend “Dining Raum.” The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit!
